Should Justin Keep The Money?

There has been a recent uproar about Diddy's son, Justin Combs, as he received a $54,000 football scholarship to attend UCLA.

First of all, congrats to Justin!  A football scholarship isn't easy to obtain.  He had to put in a heck of a lot of work in order for UCLA to want him on their team.  And at the end of the day isn't that what matters?  Why are we devaluing Justin's achievements?  He worked really hard and EARNED that scholarship. And at the end of the day it is important for Justin to understand the value in earning his keep. His dad's money isn't his money.

Justin even took to Twitter to defend his choice in accepting the scholarship saying:  "Regardless what the circumstances are, I put that work in!!!! ... PERIOD."

As far as I understand, athletic scholarships are based on the students athletic abilities and are funded separately from the educational scholarships; he isn't taking money away from someone else who needs the financial assistance.

Some say that Diddy should give a scholarship to someone who needs and deserves it in a good will gesture of giving back.

What do you think?  Is he responsible for 'giving back' because Justin doesn't need it?

Interesting question. Justin will always have to struggle to establish his own identity. The media will always refer to him as 'Diddy's kid', so in this sense he is disadvantaged because of that shadow. So..if he feels that he has worked hard to achieve this scholarship, then it would seem fitting that he would accept his 'own' worth.

I feel that Justin Combs should have every right to keep his scholarship money. Scholarships are meant to encourage children/youth who are doing exceptionally well in school in their academics and/or extracurricular activities, by giving them the opportunity to continue to do what they are doing without worrying about the financial side of things.

As a college student myself, I feel that if Justin was awarded a scholarship for school he should have every right to accept it and use it. Who his father is should have nothing to do with whether he is allowed to keep it or not. He worked for it, and he earned it. If anything people should turn to UCLA if they feel he should receive anything because they are the ones who are giving him the scholarship. It's not like they were pressured into giving it to him.

Congrats Justin on the scholarship.

Abosolutely! Justin Combs should keep his scholorship. He EARNED it. His social and financial status should have nothing to do with his accomplishments. Congratulations Justin!! I am very proud of you.
