T-Pain: "Rappers Won’t Work With Frank Ocean Because He’s Gay"

by: April D. Byrd

Hip-Hop Super Producer T-Pain is speaking out in defense of his assistant and against homophobia in Hip-Hop. As T-Pain begins to speak out more openly on the issue, he revealed that not only are people afraid to approach him because his assistant is an out gay man, but He also knows certain rappers who refuse to work with Frank Ocean because of Ocean’s sexuality.

Pain said in a statement:
“I think the radio is getting more gay-friendly,” he said. “I don’t think urban music is getting more gay-friendly, because if that was the case, Frank Ocean would be on a lot more songs. He also went on to say that he feel's "No-Homo" jokes are unnecessary. The producer also took his rant to twitter:
T-Pain is speaking his truth foul mouthed and all. Check out His exclusive interview with DJ Vlad in the (video below). Parental Warning:---- Explicit Language.

Embrace 'Da Kink: A Womyn's Inspiring Natural Hair Journey to Self-Love

Beauty is embracing EVERY aspect of who we are naturally, no matter how different we may appear - Kayla Enigma

I saw this over at Black Girl Long Hair and had to share with you all. The womyn above, Kayla Enigma, created an incredibly creative and motivational post-it note style video on Youtube detailing her hair journey back to her natural roots. What was most inspiring about her video was not that she is a beautiful womyn or that she achieved an amazing 'fro of curls, but that she documented her journey to discovering exactly who she truly is in the process.

As black womyn we have all been through the same battle, trying countless hairstyles and endlessly searching for solutions to "tame" our hair. From the scalding burn of the hot comb, we begin relaxing our hair as young womyn, to the damage and hair loss. We've been through it and back to feel beautiful, to feel accepted.

I applaud this young lady for her creativity, for confronting her insecurities and for re-defining the word pretty to be something that suites her uniquely on her own terms.

Much love to all you ladies embracing 'da kink in your hair!

Check out the video below and meet me in the comments section to let me know your thoughts.

Happy Friday!

Pursue Your Passion

I saw this poem on YouTube and I just want to encourage you to pursue your passions!  I think it's important that don't take our talents to the grave!  We only have one life and in most cases, one chance to get it right. But you will live a happier more fulfilled life if you pursue your passions.  It's not always the easiest road, there will be rejection at times - in fact this video gives countless examples of some of the most successful people in the world who simply pursued their passions and never gave up!

Today what do you chose?  To live your passion? or your excuse?

Parents....discipline your children!

I have another video for you.  This one is for the Trini's out there.  A friend of mine shared it with me and it's HILARIOUS!  It's about a 6 year old boy who goes to the store to run an errand for his mother and faces some trouble as he goes through his day.

The moral of this story is simple:  Please discipline your children or somebody else will!

There are more puppet videos on Rogera43's YouTube channel.  I haven't checked them out as yet, but I'm sure they are funny too.

Have a laugh and a great long weekend!

There is some language (but it's 'beeped' out)

Black and Single

I was just thinking to myself "I wonder what happened to the Awkward Black Girl series?" and then I stumbled upon this on Madam Noire's site.  There is a new comedic web series that has recently hit youtube.com and I think it's worth checking out.

It's called Black and Single -- an Atlanta based web series that follows men and womyn as they try to make sense of the dating scene...something we can all relate to.

The actual premise is:

“Black & Single is a web-series that follows the lives of Oni and Jesse. Two young, single and black professionals that work in the same office building and are seemingly perfect for each other. There is one problem. They never meet. They intersect each others lives at hilarious and various moments while searching for love when true love passes them by every day unwittingly. Will they ever meet? Only time will tell.”

The series only has 2 episodes out so far, but they seem to be posting bi-weekly and who knows where it will go.

If you need a good laugh, click on the video (there is a little language in the video, just to let you know).

Let me know your thoughts...did you like it?  Will you keep up with it?
